About Us

Bonäs means "living by the narrow, long peninsula". You'll find Bonäs on the west coast of Finland in Eckerö, Åland - the westernmost community in Finland. Åland is an autonomous region in Finland.

Bonäs cottages is a family-owned business with roots deep in the archipelago.

Bonäs area is only 30 acres, but the islands and peninsulas make it appear as though water surrounds you wherever you go. The area was first settled 60 years ago, but before that cattle was kept here to keep the landscape open.

Bonäs offers a place to connect with nature, to enjoy a wood-fired sauna and to cook both indoors and outdoors. If you want to book all three or two of the cottages at the same time for a family gathering - please email therese@aland.net !

You meet me, Therese, when you come to Bonäs. I bought Bonäs from my father Ulf in 2015. Bonäs was once a part of “Mansjö homestead” where my aunt Gunlög married Helge Carlsson.
